Alberta Health Services says a second person has been fired after the Calgary Flames received the H1N1 vaccine at their own private vaccination clinic.
Health officials will not say who that second person is, nor will they reveal who the most senior AHS member was that was fired on November 4th. They say for legal and privacy reasons they can't release the names of the staff members involved.
The news of the second firing comes with the completion of AHS's investigation into what they call the inappropriate use of H1N1 vaccine.
On Friday, October 30th, about 150 vaccinations were given to the Calgary Flames, their family members and other Flames personnel at the Father David Bauer Arena.
The investigation concludes that the Flames organization is not to blame for the incident and the organization followed a process they believed had been approved by AHS.
Health officials say the request from the Flames was forwarded to the most senior AHS staff member who took it to a supervisor and the request was approved.
Investigators say there is no written record of the approval.
AHS says no further disciplinary action is being considered at this time and they have sent an advisory to all AHS clinic personnel reminding them that no exceptions will be made to existing protocols.
