A new CTV/BNN poll finds the recession has rattled the confidence of Canadian investors.
Of those surveyed, only 32 per cent said they were confident in the stock market. Forty-seven per cent said they were somewhat confident and 19 per cent said they were not very confident.
Nearly half of respondents, 46 per cent, said they also had less confidence in their financial advisor.
Younger investors have the least confidence in financial advisors. Many are chosing to do their own trading instead.
But despite all the concern, investors are still looking for big returns from the market over the next few years.
On average, those investing are hoping to get 7.9 per cent per year return on their investment.
