The United Nurses of Alberta has filed a formal complaint with the Ethics and Compliance officer of Alberta Health Services against Stephen Duckett, the president and CEO of Alberta Health Services.

The complaint against Duckett states that he lacks honesty and integrity and is basically accusing him of bullying the staff of Alberta Health Services.

The UNA is accusing Duckett of speaking mistruths and says that nurses can't say anything because a gag order on health staff is prohibiting them from speaking out about changes to health care.

They also say that Alberta Health Services is filing complaints against nurses who do speak out.

"They're filing against the nurses here," said Kevin Champagne of the United Nurses of Alberta, "at this time, they're holding us to this standard they've placed us on ,okay you have this accountability and can't speak negatively,"

The Alberta Health Services board chair issued a statement on Monday in response to the complaint.

Ken Huges says AHS will review the complaint as quickly as possible but they won't say anything else until it reviews all the details.

The Premier refuses to be dragged in to the fray and says he will leave it up to the ethics and compliance office.

Most of the complaints about Duckett are connected to a newspaper report in which he is quoted numerous times and from a blog that he posted on the AHS Website.
