A southern Alberta man is dead and another is in police custody after a fight got out of control in the Crowsnest Pass.

Around 2:45 a.m. Friday RCMP were called to a home just west of Coleman.

When they arrived, police discovered one man with stab wounds and another man with minor injuries in the rural residence.

51-year-old George Steve English from Brocket died at the scene.

45-year-old Derek Brian Plourde from Fort Macleod was arrested and is charged with second degree murder.

Plourde is scheduled to make a court appearance in Fort Macleod on Monday morning.

An autopsy is planned for Monday to determine the exact cause of death.

RCMP investigators from the Crowsnest Pass Detachment, Forensic Identification Section and the Major Crimes Unit are continuing to investigate.
