Philip Klein apparently bought the membership Wednesday afternoon during an event with one of the leadership candidates in Edmonton.

Danielle Smith says Klein was part of a seniors group talking about their concerns with the current Stelmach Government.

After that discussion he signed up with the right wing alternative

"I figured that because of who his son was he'd be a bit reluctant to want to buy a membership in our party and when he did I said gee, can I tell people?" Says leadership candidate Danielle Smith.

When contacted by CTV News, Klein denied that he bought the membership. The Wild Rose Alliance Party will choose a new leader next month.
