Police have released new details about a deadly shooting in the city's beltline on Sunday and say that the victim died as a result of gunshot wounds.

Police responded to calls of shots fired on Sunday at around 2:35 a.m. in the area of 18 Ave. and 4 St. S.W.

Police found a man bleeding from gunshot wounds in the driver seat of his BMW and transported him to hospital where he later died.

On Tuesday, an autopsy confirmed that 33-year-old, Nima (David) Tajali of Calgary was shot to death.

A second male turned up in hospital where he was also treated for gunshot wounds and he is in stable condition.

Police have determined that the second man was driven to hospital in a dark coloured SUV and have recovered the vehicle.

The second man is not cooperating and police are asking witnesses to the shooting to come forward.

Investigators are also interested in two young females who were seen talking to a male behind a building on the east side of the 1800 block of 4 Street just before the shooting.

Police caution that it is too early to tell if the B.C. gang violence has made its way to Calgary streets.
