The province says it can't name the nine construction sites in Calgary that are violating safety code.

A safety review of highrise construction projects was undertaken after a three-year-old was killed in Calgary by a piece of construction debris.

On August 1st, Michelle Kresk was killed when a piece of sheet metal flew off the Le Germain worksite on 9 Avenue and Centre Street. Her brother and father were also hit and injured by the debris.

"In this case, because there was a fatality we thought it was prudent to conduct this investigation," says Chris Chodan, a spokesperson for Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).

Since the accident, OHS inspectors have surveyed 20 Calgary highrises under construction.

The province says nine orders for changes were issued. "The orders were: four for improperly secured materials; two for hazard assessments; one each for lack of fall protection, inadequate lighting and housekeeping - which is the neatness and orderliness of the worksite itself," says Chodan.

The province will not reveal the names of the companies that had violations.  Officials say none of the companies were fined, or charged, so it would be a violation of privacy to release names.

OHS staff tells CTV News all the identified problems have been fixed.

A city investigation into Kresk's death is still ongoing.
