The Calgary Police Service has been cleared by a provincial body investigating the death of a Calgary man last fall.

Gordon Bowe died after being taken into police custody November 1, 2008.

He was having trouble breathing while handcuffed and was rushed to hospital where he died one day later.

The Medical Examiner concluded that Bowe died as a result of cocaine use.

Officers shot Bowe with a Taser three times but investigators with the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team say it didn't work twice and the third time it was at a lower setting which did not contribute to Bowe's death.

The Crown prosecutor has reviewed the case and will not be laying any charges against the officers involved.

Bowe's family has accused officers of beating him to death, saying his body was covered in bruises. His common-law wife tells CTV she does not accept the findings of the report.

ASIRT investigators say the Bowe's struggle with officers was "significant" but officers did not cross the line during the arrest.
