Police have charged a Calgary man after receiving sexual assault complaints from three young girls dating back to 1998.

On July 10th, Child Abuse Unit investigators charged 53-year-old Ronald A. Sayers with three counts of sexual interference with a child under the age of 16 and three counts of sexual assault.

Police say the victims, who were between the ages of four and 12 at the time of the alleged sexual assaults, all knew Sayers.

"They were not random attacks or assaults," said S/Sgt. Leah Barber with the Calgary Police Service. "They were people he had befriended or that knew him."

Police were notified when one of the victims reported the alleged abuse to police in June of 2009.

After a thorough investigation, police were able to track down two additional victims.

It's believed Sayers works as a technician specializing in orthopedic braces at the Alberta Children's Hospital.

Police aren't confirming where Sayers works, but they did tell CTV News his employer has been notified.

Police also say Sayers' workplace is not a factor in the investigation.

CTV News contacted Alberta Health Services who confirmed Sayers works at the hospital but won't say what he does there. They also say Sayers is currently on a leave of absence.

Police won't say whether Sayers has any children of his own.

He is due back in court Wednesday morning.

Police are continuing to investigate and ask anyone with information to contact the Major Crimes Section at 403-206-8390.
