Alberta Health Services has created a new code of conduct for health care workers, and the Alberta Nurse's Union doesn't like it.

The Union says the new rules put a gag order on workers.

Under the new standards, any health care worker who speaks negatively about the system could be fired.

The United Nurses of Alberta is filing a policy grievance over the new code.

The college of physicians and surgeons is also upset with the language and tone of the document. It plans to outline its concerns in a written letter to the AHS.

Opposition parties are also sounding off. The NDP accuses the government of using intimidation tactics against health care workers.

The AHS defends the revamped document.

Officials say that with the Superboard in place, it needs a new code of conduct so all health regions follow the same policy.
