More tragedy Tuesday night at the Chuckwagon races at the Calgary Stampede. A second horse has died during the races in just a matter of days.

It happened during the third heat. One of Barry Hodgson's horses broke its left front leg as it was coming down the track in between the third and fourth turn.

Veterinarians on scene decided it would be best to euthanize the male horse.

Calgary Stampede officials say there wasn't a collision or any driver interference.

Hodgson was not hurt and neither were any of his other horses.

CTV News spoke with Hodgson shortly after the race and he said it was his favourite horse.

On Sunday one of Reg Johnstone's horses collapsed and died a few hours after finishing second in the heat. He died from an apparent heart attack.
