The Town of Banff is tearing down its curling rink but the materials won't end up in the landfill.

The massive roof that covered the ice will be recycled and some of the main support beams will be reused in the new curling rink.

"A lot of fixtures and equipment are being put into storage for the new facility, as much as we can reuse," says Chad Townsend the environmental coordinator for the mountain town.

"There's also going to be a lot of items salvaged and for sale in other projects," says Townsend.

Sustain-a-Build Canada Corp has been hired to help salvage materials for resale.

Anyone interested in purchasing the building materials can contact Sustain-a-Build at 1-780-229-7840.

The new recreational centre, which will house the new curling rink, is slated to open in late 2010.
