Two men suffered injuries Monday morning after a crash involving two bicycles.

The cyclists, both in their 40s, were riding on a bike path under a foot bridge near the Calgary Zoo at 4:40 a.m.

Officials say the men were riding at a high rate of speed in a blind curve in the path.

The two men slammed into each other.

Neither was wearing a helmet or using a light.

One man suffered a minor concussion. The other has a broken jaw.

Some riders say the curve is notorious for trouble.

Lonn Bate commutes and races bikes.   He says he is not surprised by the crash, he broke his arm six weeks ago while he was riding his bike in the same spot on the bike path.

He was he would like to see the city do something to improve the blind corner.

The city's Bylaw Services hasa 50 officers trained for bicycle patrol.  The officers enforce a 20 kilometre speed limit on the pathway system.

The fines range between 50 and 100 dollars.

The city plans to review the area to determine if there are any more safety measures which can be taken to prevent similar accidents.
