The Calgary Police Homicide Unit has been called in to investigate the city's latest homicide in the northeast community of Falconridge.

Police confirmed to CTV News late Wednesday night a man was found shot to death inside a vehicle in an alley.

A 9-1-1 call came in at 9:25 p.m. for gunshots in the area of Falshire Drive. When police arrived, they found the body of a 'younger looking man', and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle was found just west of Grant MacEwen Elementary School located at 180 Falshire Drive northeast.

The Tactical and Canine Units were called in as well as Hawcs to help investigators canvass neighbouring homes and conduct a grid search.

Calgary Police have not ruled out whether this is a gang related shooting.

They are speaking with a number of people, who at this time, are not being referred to as suspects.
