A Medicine Hat man has been charged with accessing and distributing child pornography.
On Monday, police arrested and charged Gregory Fritzke.
Police say the 43-year-old man allegedly downloaded and shared child pornography images through an Internet site. The site allowed users to share photos and chat.
CTV News has learned the Frizke is the vice principal at Ross Glen Elementary School. Frizke has been on leave from the school for two months.
The School Superintendant for Medicine Hat, Linda Rossler, says she is "saddened, dismayed and stunned," by the charges. Rossler says letters will be sent home on Tuesday to parents.
The school board has been assured by RCMP that Fritzke did not manufacture photos but did download and share.
The arrest comes after a three-month investigation by the Southern Alberta Integrated Child Exploitation Team and police in Medicine Hat.
Police say they learned about Fritzke after a file was forwarded from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre.
That file also led police to Giuseppe Antonio Secreti. On August 18th, the 33-year-old Calgarian was charged with accessing, distributing and possession of child pornography.
Like Fritzke, it is alleged Secreti downloaded and shared images of child pornography through an Internet site.
The file originated with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security who were conducting an investigation related to a photo-sharing chat site.
