Calgary police have made an arrest in connection with the death of a man outside a bar early New Year's Day.

Police charged Northwind Hart, 32, with second degree murder and charges are being considered for another man who is in police custody.

Police were called to a strip mall pub on Whitefield Dr. and 36th St. N.E. just after 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning after complaints of a disturbance outside.

When police arrived, they found three people suffering from various injuries and rushed them to hospital.

It is believed that an altercation began in the Coyote's Bar and Grill and then spilled out into the parking lot.

One man died soon after he arrived at Foothills Hospital, the other two were treated and released.

The name of the victim is still pending but he is believed to be in his mid-twenties and thought to be new to Canada.

Northwind Hart will appear in court on Jan 14, 2009.

A lot of people were in the area at the time of the incident and police are questioning a number of witnesses.
