Hundreds of minor soccer teams are searching for new fields to play on after an indoor soccer bubble in the southeast collapsed overnight.

A white membrane, the size of a city block, lays deflated over five indoor soccer fields at the Calgary Soccer Centre.

The bubble collapsed at 3:30 a.m.

Officials don't know why but think snow and ice on the link between the main building and the bubble may have contributed to the collapse.

Perry Logan, spokesperson with the Calgary Soccer Centre, says they're just grateful no one was hurt.

"We had a metal frame that was bent like a toothpick. Obviously a ton of pressure came down. We're lucky no one was inside of there."

Logan says big minor soccer tournament just wrapped up there yesterday and there's another one scheduled for this week.

Daryl Leinweder with the Calgary Minor Soccer Association says they're scrambling to accommodate all the scheduled games.

"We schedule 750 teams in Calgary Minor Soccer. There's a huge impact when something like this happens."
