The council debate over a proposed retail and housing development in the northwest community of Brentwood has been pushed over until Tuesday afternoon.

Council let out at 10 o'clock Tuesday night after a full day of public consultations that saw dozens of concerned Brentwood residents and area businesses for and against the proposal.

Long-range plans would add up to 6-thousand people to the Brentwood area.

High-rise condos and office buildings are part of the proposal, which would build up the area around the Brentwood LRT station.

Some Brentwood residents are concerned about traffic, infrastructure and transit plans and have sent dozens of letters to their Alderman.

Others think the new plan will reduce the environmental footprint and control urban sprawl.

The city is also planning for more high density housing around the Brentwood LRT station similar to other areas like the Lion's Park station at North Hill Mall.

Council will begin debating the proposed plan at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
