A team from the University of Calgary says they've found fragments of the meteorite that lit up the prairie sky last week.
The 10-ton asteroid was seen by thousands of people across the prairie provinces on November 20th before it went down near Lloydminster, on the Alberta, Saskatchewan border.
Dr. Alan Hildebrand from the University of Calgary and graduate student Ellen Milley found the fragments late Thursday afternoon.
The U of C researcher pinpointed an area of farm fields near Manitou Lake to focus the team's search and believe there may be thousands of fragments on the ground.
So far, they have recovered 10 pieces from a frozen pond ranging in size from a pebble to a piece that is the size of a fist.
