Jackie Tran, who police say is a known gang member, was arrested earlier this week because of a breach of his release conditions.

He was set free October 21st while awaiting an appeal of his deportation order.

Four days later, police spotted Tran near a restaurant in Kensington while responding to a disturbance call.

Officers didn't recognize him at the time but arrested him on Tuesday because he was supposed be at home under an 8 p.m. curfew.

The hearing into Tran's most recent arrest took so long that it pushed his deportation hearing back to November 20th.

But he will get a chance to argue for his release again during a detention review in seven days.

Why is it that our justice system is designed to support these criminals to the expense of Canadians....what happened to ruling for the greater good of a community. I think we need an overhaul in our justice system.

The real problem is immigration lawyers who are more concerned about making fees in prolonging these cases rather than protecting society. Four years is rediculous. One hearing should be the limit and if an immigrant is guilty of any type of crime, deportation should be automatic. Let's bring some commonsense back into the system.

Why don't we make him stay at the Judges house while he waits for his hearing. I bet that will get him on that plane pretty quick

It should be a privilege to be in this country not a right. The minute a criminal is found guilty there should be no further hearings for anything.. should be on a flight back to their country. Why should courts be allowed to waste decent citizens tax payer money on these losers that will always be criminal losers? These people make a mockery of our country then wonder why there is racism while decent people pay the price for their crimes. Get rid of the freeloaders and put a halt to immigration period.

Is anyone else tired of hearing the parents of thugs like this invariably saying the same things; i.e. we had no idea he was a gang member or he's always been a good kid.

Memo to Mom and Dad: when your 20-year-old, with no trade and no formal education, is driving an $80,000 vehicle, is out all night, sleeps until 4 pm, and always has a wad of cash but never says what he does for a living, he's probably not flipping burgers for a living or attending night school.

Tran should be sent back without question. People come to this country for a better life, people with criminal histories should not even be able to set foot in Canada. Letting people like Tran come and stay here for a second chance is absurd.

Could judges one day be held accountable for these individuals? What if this guy goes to court, gets a further court date, and in the meantime kills a cop? Could the judge be held liable?

It would be nice if the Judges could take a realistic look at what's going on instead of trying to rush out of the courtroom to make their Tee Time. They obviously don't care about their family/friends if they let people like this out on the street on a daily basis. It's disgusting already.

This guy should never be allowed out of jail except to get him on a plane. He should definitely be sent back. What's the hold up? He was convicted of a crime, he's a KNOWN gang member and yet we still grace him with our hospitality by keeping him in the country? How does that look to the rest of the world?
