Calgary Police have identified the victim in the city's latest homicide.

Investigators say 30-year-old Efrem Mehari Kuflom of Calgary was shot to death on Monday morning.

Witnesses heard shots fired near an alley between 12th and 13th Avenue and 11th Street S.W. around 11:30 a.m.

When police arrived they found Kuflom in a black Pontiac which had crashed into a fence a short distance from the alley.

He was declared dead at the scene.

Witnesses say they heard at least two gunshots and saw man running from the area.

Witnesses describe the man as having a dark skin-tone, in his early to mid-20s, and wearing a hooded jacket.

Police say there may have been a second person involved.

Investigators say the shooting was likely not a random incident and their preliminary investigation suggests the shooting may be drug-related.
