A serial arsonist may be behind a series of fires set in the city's southwest Friday morning.
Fire crews responded to several separate fires in the Killarney area around 2:30 A.M. Friday.
Crew were first sent to a garage fire at 2405 25 St. S.W.
They were able to knock it down quickly and re-route incoming units to the next fire.
Firefighters were kept hopping putting out a fire at a construction site and a tractor fire at Richmond Green Golf Course.
The biggest and most serious fire was at a duplex under construction in the 2600 block of 25th St. S.W.
The two alarm fire totally demolished the duplex and then spread to an adjacent home.
Firefighters woke up and evacuated a man from a neighbouring home with just the clothes on his back.
The man's home was over taken by the fire and completely gutted.
"It was just like out of the movies where flames were shooting out of the window the whole thing was just engulfed in flames," said evacuated resident Brent Imler.
Calgary Police swarmed the area looking for anyone who appeared suspicious.
Calgary Fire Department investigators and the Arson Unit are on scene and say they are convinced that these fires were deliberately set.
"Given the facts we are dealing with all these fires in one place we are dealing with a suspicious fire for sure," said Jeff Budai from the Calgary Fire Department.
There is still no word on damages.
