They are sprinting for the finish, hoping to be the winners of the 2008 North American Solar challenge.

The teams are on their way to the finish line at the University of Calgary.

The cars left July 13 from Plano, Texas and have covered nearly 4000 Km to get here.

Some teams have zipped along while others have had to adapt and perform quick fixes to keep their cars on the road.

When teams arrived in Medicine Hat Monday night, the team from the University of Michigan had a significant lead over the rest of the pack.

The University of Calgary car, "Schulich One", checked into the pit stop in seventh place.

Fifteen teams left Medicine Hat Tuesday at 9:00 A.M. and are expected to start arriving in Calgary around noon.

The route through Calgary is:

- Trans-Canada to 52nd St N.E.

- Left on McKnight BLVD.

- Left on John Laurie Blvd.

- Left on Charleswood Dr.

- The official finish line is at Charleswood Drive and Collegiate Boulevard.

The public is also invited to enjoy a free barbecue and an Enviro-fair at the University of Calgary between 10:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M.
