The solar teams have had an interesting drive dealing with changing weather and road conditions.

This past weekend, one team found itself delayed when it accidently became part of a parade in Morris, Manitoba.

The small town outside Winnipeg kicked off its annual summer festival on Saturday and just as the parade was about to start, the Michigan solar car happened to drive into town.

Stampede organizers invited the team to become an unofficial parade entry and they were escorted down Main Street behind a line of mounted police.

People embraced the impromptu entry and cheered the team on as they negotiated their way around droppings left behind by the RCMP horses.

"I don't know any solar team that has stumbled across or gotten into a parade on the race route," said Jeff Ferman, the University of Michigan race manager, "we had a lot of fun, we enjoyed it."

The Michigan team was far ahead and was the only one to arrive in Morris while the parade was still on.
