The price of gas has finally started to come down, but it's still cheaper for motorists out east than drivers here in Alberta. The price in Toronto has fallen by about 10 cents since wednesday morning to an average of a dollar twenty six per litre.

Here in Calgary, it's still a few cents higher on average. The price of oil is now around the $130 per barrel mark, down from the high of $145. Industry Analyst Michael Ervin  says there are reasons the prices differ from region to region.

"Wholesale prices can be different because supply and demand fundimentals can be driving wholesale prices higher in the west whereas they have different supply and demand balances in Eastern Canada. The other difference is that in Toronto they pump significantly more gas per station than in Calgary." says Ervin of MJ Ervin and associates.

Gas stations have to sell their most expensive gas before restocking with cheaper supply.
